With health and safety at the heart of our work, supporting those with similar ambitions has become a point of pride for Wallaroo. Every year, we donate 1% of our profits to skin cancer research, education, and prevention. One of our biggest recipients is The Skin Cancer Foundation, the only international organization dedicated to helping people understand the importance of skin cancer prevention, early detection and prompt, effective treatment. Another organization we partner with is the SHADE Foundation whose mission is to eradicate skin cancer and melanoma through the education of children, parents, teachers, and communities throughout the United States. We are also proud to work with the Colorado Melanoma Foundation and The Sun Bus which travels the state giving free skin checks. Giving back in these ways allows an abundance of love to be shared across all our communities.
While sun protection is this company’s why, we have also made a commitment to expanding our how. In 2013, Wallaroo Hat Company became a Certified B Corporation. Certified B Corporations operate under high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency. This includes social and environmental performance geared towards creating an inclusive, equitable, and healthy economy. This certification allows us to use the power of business to make positive, influential changes on social and environmental issues through the collective effort of other like-minded businesses. Wallaroo is proud to be among other industry leaders such as Patagonia and Athleta who take this mission to heart.
February is the time of year we associate with love. Love can come in a variety of heart forward gestures, such as gifting, donating, and supporting those around us. At Wallaroo Hat Company, we love sharing the gift of sun protection hats and we love supporting our customers and charitable partners in this work.
Along with Wallaroo’s desire to bring communities together, another event beginning this month gives the concept of love and togetherness a global perspective. The 2022 Winter Olympics began in Beijing, China on February 4th. Being part of such an elite event evokes strong emotions, highlighting these athlete’s dedication and determination for success. Olympians train, dream, and relentlessly pursue the opportunity to represent their countries in different events and having the chance to participate makes the effort and dedication worthwhile. Sharing positive emotion, ambition, and determination highlights the value and the power of our global communities.
